Zvonareva Qualified to the Next Round of WTA Monterrey Open
Another WTA tour is taking place in Abierto Monterrey, Mexico. The first stage of the tournament turned out to be rather hot and exciting. Russian tennis player Vera Zvonareva managed to win against American player Alison Riske and qualified to the next stage of the competition. The match lasted 1 hour and 44 minutes and ended up with the final score 6:4, 6:0.

Despite the fact Zvonareva’s statistics may not be very impressive. It includes 2 aces, 4 break points won out of 8. In the next round Russian player will meet against Christina Mladenovic from France who beat Czech player Tereza Smitkova in the first round of the tournament.

Another match with Russian player Anastasia Pavluchenkova against Anna Schmidlova from Czech Republic also ended up in favor of Russian sportswoman. However this match turned outto be more challenging. It lasted 2 hours and 5 minutes. Pavluchenkova made 11 double faults and 3 aces. In the next round of this tour she will meet with Johanna Larson from Sweden on the court.

It should also be noted that the prize fund is $500 000.
