WhatsApp gets its own stablecoin
It is not the first time that WhatsApp and cryptocurrency are mentioned in the same breath. The topic was mentioned more often, also here on Apparata. Again there is information that WhatsApp will indeed introduce its own cryptocurrency. The New York Times reports on this.

The well-known American newspaper has spoken with multiple sources. The coin for WhatsApp will be developed by Facebook, the social network is the owner of the popular message service. The sources speak of an introduction in the first half of 2019. The own variant on Bitcoin must make payments between users possible.

Unlike the Bitcoin, the currency would work with a fixed exchange rate. We have also heard that before. Whether the currency will become a success, at least in the Netherlands, is still the question. With us, apps like Tikkie are now firmly established and there is not really a reason to pay with the cryptomunt of WhatsApp. However, there are opportunities in that area in the United States, the US own market.

Not only WhatsApp will benefit from this crypto coin. Also expect apps like Messenger and Facebook to use the currency, or to launch their own currency. For example in cooperation with Facebook's own Marketplace.
