According to a press release, the organization seeks to stimulate the development of the blockchain in the transport industry, creating applications for supply chains and logistics processes, asset tracking and transaction ledgers. On January 15, Penske became a corporate member of the alliance. Penske joins companies such as United Parcel Service in the consortium. Last year, UPS announced that it was going to join the development of standards for blockchain platforms, including how to use technology to facilitate payments. At that time, the consortium was named Blockchain in Trucking Alliance and focused its efforts specifically on this industry. However, the addition of railway companies and other transport-related groups led to a change in the name of the consortium. |
