Theft of Icon was disclosed on Hot Pursuit in Nizhny Novgorod Region, Russia

On Wednesday 29th of October police was reported about the fact that a wooden icon was missing. Policemen have found thieves. They were two women who have stolen the icon from 79-year old citizen of Aristovo village, Semenovsky district. The information has been officially provided by media office of Police Department in Nizhny Novgorod region.

Pensioner told policemen that two women have already visited her before the theft. They were not young and introduced themselves as social workers. One of these women offered to check if the heating system worked properly together with the owner of the flat. After they left the house to check the boiler room, another woman was alone in the house. After they returned from the boiler room, two women have immediately left. Then the owner of the house found out that her icon was missing.

It didn’t take a lot of time for policemen to find thieves on the hot pursuit. They have turned out to be 35 and 37-year old women who also live in Semenovsky district.

Criminal case is initiated in accordance with jurisdiction of Russian federation.

Policemen recommend not to open doors to unknown people and do not let them inside your house or flat. All social workers should have special IDs which must be shown to every citizen on request.
