The US opened new export markets in August

The Unites States are expanding their crude oil exports geography. According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) report, published on Monday, the USA shipped crude to 22 countries March through August. In August alone 12 countries received American crude oil.

More than 100.5 million barrels of crude oil were shipped from the US over the six-month period. Canada still remains the biggest US crude importer – it received more than half of total export (54.5 million barrels).

In August the geography of the US crude oil export was expanded. The States started shipping to markets it has never shipped before. Among them there are Liberia and South Africa which imported 452,000 and 411,000 barrels of crude respectively, сообщает http://azinnov.com.

The Marshall Islands, which has not received any shipment of US crude since April, may not receive any US crude in the future as well, according to the EIA.

"Currently, no US port is capable of loading the larger vessels typically used to transport crude oil, so US crude exporters must use more expensive smaller vessels," EIA wrote. "However, with lower tanker rates, exporters may be able to load smaller ships at US ports and transfer the cargoes onto larger vessels offshore for transport to final destinations at an attractive per-barrel cost."
