The Treasury of Great Britain will study cryptocurrency

The potential impact of blockchain technology and distributed ledger technology on financial institutions and infrastructure is also under the magnifying glass, as well as the question of how to establish a regulatory balance between protecting consumers and businesses without stopping innovation. In particular, the inquiry will "carefully study the regulatory response" to to cryptocurrencies from the government, the Financial Conduct Authority and the Bank of England.

In a statement, Member of Parliament Nicky Morgan, who chairs the Treasury Committee, said the committee will consider the potential risks that cryptocurrencies may have, including price volatility, money laundering and cybercrime.
