The reactors of the oldest nuclear power plant in France will be stopped. The work of the oldest French nuclear power plant will be suspended. This decision was made by the owners of the station - the energy company EDF. The oldest nuclear power plant in France is located in the city of Fessenheim in the eastern part of the republic. Her work will be stopped for several weeks due to repair work on one of the reactors. By the way, there are two reactors at the station. At the same time, one of them has not been working since last year. It should be restarted only in 2018. The oldest nuclear power plant in France was commissioned in 1978. It is designed for two reactors with a capacity of up to 90 MW. Last year, the nuclear power plant in Fessenheim produced about 1.5 percent of all French electricity. In total, the country now operates 19 nuclear power plants with 58 working reactors. However, by 2025, under the program to reduce the share of nuclear energy, France could lose several stations or 17 reactors. Recall, Europe has been talking for several years about the need to lessen the share of nuclear electricity in countries. This is due, among other things, to the great danger of such structures and the extreme denseness of the territories. The tragedy at European nuclear power plants can lead to global human losses due to lack of proximity to settlements. |
