Facebook and MSQRD: In 2016, March Facebook declared its purchase of Belorussian company Masquerade Technologies, which has developed the application for real time masks overlay MSQRD. The service had been launched in 2015, December and gained 10 million users less that in two months.

MSQRD founders Eugene Nevgen, Sergey Gonchar and Eugene Zatepyakin eventually switched to the London Facebook office. The transaction amount remains unknown. 

Verizon and Yahoo, AT&T and Time Warner: American operator Verizon has announced the purchase of the main business internet-holding Yahoo for 4,8 billion dollars. According to the deal’s result, the telecommunication company planned to consolidate AOL holding and Yahoo, the company’s mail service with monthly audience of 225 million users, news service and advertising business assets.

By the end of 2016 the deal isn’t closed yet, according to Bloomberg’s data, Verizon management decided to lower the price of Internet Company, or cancel the purchase because of news about Yahoo users’ data leaks. The telecommunication company AT&T has announced a similar deal in October – it agreed on the purchase of Time Warner for $85,4 billion. The buyer got control of HBO, Warner Bros. and CNN, according to the results of the deal.  

Microsoft and LinkedIn: The professional social network LinkedIn has integrated into a Microsoft corporation – companies announced the agreement in June, 2016. The transaction amount was $26,2 billion, it has been eventually closed in December.
