The level of fertility has increased by 2.1% in Nizhniy Novgorod region, Russia

The Head of Statistics Center in Nizhny Novgorod region Galina Polyakova has taken part in press-conference that was devoted to demographical situation in the region. The overall level of fertility in Nizhny Novgorod region has increased by 2.1% over the last half-year. 18 700 babies were born starting from January till June 2014.

At the same time the level of mortality has decreased by 0.8% in comparison with the same period last year. 26.4 thousand deaths have been registered during the first half-year of 2014. Natural population decline is 7 643 people. The situation is the following: 11.5 births and 16.2 deaths per every thousand people in the region. The situation is much better if compared with the same period last year.

The level of mortality is 1.4 times higher than the level of fertility in the whole region. It is 1.3 times higher in small towns and 1.8 times higher in villages. Nizhny Novgorod region takes 11th position among all Volga regions is we speak about the level of fertility.
