The leader of the world market of diamond jewelry has joined the De Beers blockchain project
The world's largest diamond jewelry retailer, Signet Jewelers, has joined the Tracr block project of the South African diamond mining corporation De Beers Group, ForkLog, an online magazine, writes.

As it was informed earlier, the launch of the De Beers pilot blockchain-project was announced in January, and by the end of this year, a single and protected from unintended access digital register of all polished diamonds for sale should be created.

Trach blocker will track their origin to exclude the possibility of using so-called "conflict" diamonds illegally mined in the zones of military conflicts in Africa in making jewelry. Shoppers will be able to check the origin of stones, which, according to De Beers, will increase their confidence in jewelry producers and sellers.

Head of Signet Jewelers Virginia Droso noted that the company shared the opinion of De Beers on the need for responsible determination of the origin of diamonds, and also believe that the jewelry industry needs digital technologies.
