The first samples of fossil fuel were obtained in the South China sea on may 10, 2017. "Flammable ice" the colloquial name of the natural gas hydrate. This crystalline compounds formed from water and gas under certain pressure and temperature. In appearance, hydrates are similar to ice. One cubic meter of "combustible ice" corresponds approximately to 164 cubic meters of natural gas.

The field of natural gas hydrate, Chinese experts found in the South China sea in 2007. Shortly thereafter, construction began on the mining station. It is located in the sea 320 kilometers away from Zhuhai in Guangdong province. The company earned 28 March 2017.

The first samples of "combustible ice" were retrieved from a depth of 1266 meters on may 10. Since then, the company in the South China sea every day produces an average of 16 thousand cubic meters of natural gas from hydrates. According to CCTV, extracted from the hydrate of natural gas the proportion of methane is 99.5%.
