The Mid-Atlantic region, particularly the Marcellus and Utica shale regions, concentrate the biggest natural gas capacity now. During the past several years, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia have produced more gas than others. Moreover, these states made the biggest investments in the infrastructure for natural gas transportation along Atlantic Coast.
However, the states that have the largest natural-gas-fired (UNG) capacity additions under construction are Texas and Florida. Though, these states do not produce shale gas.
According to ITportal, this happens because with the replacement of less efficient coal, power plants and energy companies boosted natural gas supply to Florida and Texas, which needs new infrastructure. |
