Telecoms Blockchain Group is replenished with new members

According to announcement by the Japanese SoftBank, the research team will see the Etisalat telecommunications company from the UAE, the Spanish Telefonica and the Philippine’s PLDT as new members. In addition, two companies from South Korea will also join this initiative: KT Corporation and LG Uplus, a subsidiary of LG.

The CBSG was established in September last year - a step led by several global large telecommunications firms, including SoftBank and American Sprint, to research and develop an international blockchain platform and an ecosystem of gateway switches.

In the release, the group also advertises its recent success in demonstrating a cross-carrier blockchain payment system to initiate domains on phone bills, as well as roaming and money transfers of a mobile wallet.

Further, CBSG plans to test platform of blockchain to provide mobile wallet roaming between Japanese and Taiwanese travelers in 2018. It is expected that new members will also pilot existing blockchain use cases of CBSG in their enterprises.
