State Duma will Review new Bill which will Simplify Access to Pain Relievers
This document has been introduced in February 2014 after rear Admiral Vyacheslav Apanasenko committed a suicide. He suffered from severe pains caused by pancreatic cancer. He shot himself in his head after his wife was not able to get another dosage of pain relievers in the local drug store despite the fact she had a prescription. This incident caused a chain of the same suicides resulted in sever pains due to cancer.

The project of this bill is followed by an explanatory note. It is said there that Russia takes 82nd place in the world when it comes to availability of narcotic pain relievers. The prescription is valid up to 5 days at the moment. It may be prolonged up to 15 days.

The changes in this law will also terminate the necessity to provide drug stores with already used ampules. Now patients will not get their drugs without empty ampules.

Moreover the government is planning to continue making all necessary payments and benefits for unemployed people in case they take care of seriously ill children. These payments are stopped as soon as a child is 15 at the moment. This term may also be prolonged up to 18 years old.
