Data stolen earlier this year from a hack on the Polish game publisher and developer CD PROJEKT is on the street. It's probably employee data and game data, the company confirms on Twitter. CD PROJEKT, known for the Games The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, was hacked in February. The company became a victim of so-called ransom software where files become inaccessible and the hacker demands ransom to release them. "We have reason to believe that captured data is circulating on the internet," writes the publisher in a statement. Although, according to the company, it is not possible to determine with certainty exactly what data it is, there are suspicions that it is about game data and information about employees. The as yet unknown perpetrator had previously stated in a ransom letter that he had stolen that data. The company cannot confirm whether the data circulating is correct, or that it may have been altered. The investigation into the hack is still ongoing. |
