Chairman Lee Kun-hee of the South Korean technology company Samsung has died. The 78-year-old South Korean, who had been suffering from health problems for years, died in a hospital in Seoul. Lee Kun-hee was the son of the founder of Samsung and succeeded him as the top man in 1987. Under his leadership, the company became one of the world's largest producers of smartphones and televisions. In 2008, Lee resigned his executive office after a conviction for tax evasion and bribery. When the president of South Korea pardoned the sentence a year later, he returned to the head of Samsung.
