These changes are very likely to be accepted by the deputies. It means that drivers can be fined for speeding up to 10 km/h starting from 2015. Representatives of Traffic Police are sure that such measures have already turned out to be a necessity. The number of accidents because of speeding has increased by 70%. “Drivers considered new law as permission to exceed speed limitations. However they should be well aware that traffic rules are still the same. On the other hand drivers are focused on the fact that now they are allowed to drive 78-79 km/h instead of limited 58-59 km/h. Such situation should be changed”, - explained Deputy Head of Russian Traffic Police Department Vladimir Kuzin. It should me mentioned that limitations on speeding up to 10 km/h have been cancelled by the government on the 1st of September 2013. The limit was increased up to 20 km/h. The fine was 500 rubles at that time. That is why the average speed in cities has increased from 60 to 80 km/h. |
