Russian Navy Preparing for Antarctic Expedition
Russian Navy Forces are preparing for Antarctic expedition. According to information provided by Russian Ministry of defense media office General Headquarters of Navy Forces are completing necessary arrangements to set off for the first Antarctic expedition starting from 1980’s. It will take place in the end of the current year.

It is also known that scientific and research oceanographic vessel “Admiral Vladimirsky” repairing works are almost finished. The ship settled in Kanonersky shipyard on March 17. After all repairing works are completed the vessel will be thoroughly tested and examined by experts at the Baltic Sea.

It should be noted that according to information provided by the ministry Antarctic expedition will include various participants as well as representatives of Russian Ministry of Defense, Navy Hydrographic Service, researchers and scientists. All members of the expedition will proceed with various research works and hydrographic experiments aiming on correcting sea and navigation maps as well as guides and manuals for navigators. At the same time the group will deal with checking visual and sound signal characteristics of radio-location systems which provides navigation security for Russian vessels.
