Russian International Team Takes the First Place Overall Standings of XXVII World Winter Universiade

XXVII World Winter Universiade that has taken place in Slovakia and Spain is finished. It is high time to sum up the results of the competition which was held from 24th of January to 14th of February. It was divided into several stages. The first stage took place in Slovakia while the last round was arranged in Spain. Russian international team turned out to be the most skillful and successful in comparison with all other participants. It managed to win 56 medals which is an absolute record of all winter universiades. Teams were competing for 68 awards. The majority of them was won by Russian sportsmen. The final results are as follows: Gold medals – 20 Silver medals – 18 Bronze medals – 18 Korea took the second place in the final standing with 16 awards. Third place is for Kazakhstan with 11 medals. Switzerland is 5th having 10 awards in its active and China takes the 6th place winning 9 medals. The next World Winter Universiade will take place in Kazakhstan in 2017. In two years after this event the competition will finally move to Krasnoyarsk, Russia.
