Russian Biathlon Team took 5th Place in Kontiolahti
Biathlon World Championship is over. It took place in Kontiolahti, Finland. Russian team took 5th place in the final standing with gold and silver medals. Gold medal was one by Ekaterina after finishing first in individual race. Anton Shipulin took solver in pursuit.

All fans and coach staff hoped that Russian sportsmen will take the first place in the last stage of the championship which included men’s and women’s mass-start. However, those hopes were never brought to life. Russian sportsmen failed the race totally. Ekaterina Shumilova was the best among Russian women taking 10th position after finish. Anton Shipulin showed great speed on the track. Unfortunately 3 misses didn’t let him go upper than 7th place.

When the tournament was over the head coach of Russian team said that all failures and misfortunes were connected only with poor shooting. He noted that his sportsmen were in a good physical condition. Shipulin was third among the fastest sportsmen on track while Garaynichev was 9th. However, they were not able to handle with shooting.

At the same time Anton Shipulin who is a leader of Russian biathlon team paid attention to the fact that he was not satisfied with results during this tournament: “I am in a very good condition this year. That is why I was hoping to win a gold medal and as much medals as possible. Nevertheless, I still have my second place in pursuit. We will prepare for the next season”.

Final 9th stage of Biathlon World Cup starts on March 19th in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. This is going to be the last leg of competition. It will start with men’s sprint. The program of this stage also includes women’s sprint, two pursuits and two mass-starts.
