France is hoping that ships will be bought by the United States.

Russia Won’t Get Mistrals from France
French government has taken final decision regarding supplies of Mistral helicopter carriers to Russian Federation. French Minister of Defense Jean-Yves Le Drian considers such decision to be an important strategic measure. The USA was against supplying those ships to Russia.

At the same time French Minister of Defense have a clear understanding that they will now have to pay $1.2 billion as compensation to Russian federation. Moreover, Jean-Yves Le Drian has no doubts that it will be extremely hardtop find a new buyer.

Nevertheless, he hopes that the United States will express their wish to buy Mistrals. Jean-Yves Le Drian said that such opinion was shared by US Minister of Defense Ashton Carter during negotiation which took place in Pentagon. After such Carter’s words all members of the meeting laughed out loud.

It is also known that Russia and France has already discussed preliminary sum of compensation from French side. The problem for Russia can be solved by manufacturing its own ships. Such statement has been made by Vice-Chairman of Military and Industrial Committee Oleg Bochkarev.
