Russia can place its Military Basis on Territory of Cyprus

Cyprus government can allow Russia to place its air and naval military bases on the territory of the country. Such statement has been made by the president of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis.

“There is an old military defense agreement that can be renewed. At the same time we are ready to offer Russia additional services in the same way we do with France and Germany”, - said the president of Cyprus.

Russian Air Forces are very likely to use “Andreas Papandreou” air base which is located close to the Paphos international airport. Navy Forces will get a right to settle on the territory of military base in Limassol on permanent basics.

Military cooperation agreement between two countries is supposed to be signed on the 25th of February 2015 during visit of Cyprus president in Russia.
