Representatives of Russia and Finland discussed issues of development of territories of the Arctic
According to employees a press-services of the government, Anton Kobyakov – Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Mikko Hautala – the Ambassador of Finland, met to discuss future cooperation on the topic of development of the Arctic territories and its natural resources. Also at the meeting, the political leaders raised the issue of the participation of the head of Finland to the International Arctic forum.

Finland is a long - standing and important partner for Russia, good relations between the countries have been going on for several decades and are characterized as mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation.

General topics of interest of the state in the development of the Arctic, this is a promising area of cooperation, beneficial to the countries. The parties discussed the issues and problems that may occur in early joint work on development of Arctic sector. Country representatives also will participate in the upcoming Arctic forum, which will be held in Arkhangelsk in late March this year. Another major event – the meeting of representatives of States, scheduled in early June 2017.

Russian officials expect that Finland will be able to participate in the forum, which is being organized this summer in St. Petersburg. Various commercial Finnish organizations also participate in forums on various issues that affect the interests of the countries.
