There has appeared information on official website of Rosselkhoznadzor Department in Nizhniy Novgorod region about the fact that rabies quarantine was set in Buturlinsky region.

Rabies quarantine was set in Buturlinsky region, Russia

Such measures have been taken by a special committee which deals with security organization of territories in the region. This decision was based on positive results of materials’ research. These materials have been received from a wild fox several days ago.

Special action plan has been worked account in according with research results. Quarantine will be set till the 10th of October 2014. However it can also be prolonged in case the situation gets worse.

Quarantine zone includes Smagino village, Paragley village, Valgusy and Misyuriha vilages. Necessary measures for protection from rabies include a ban on animal exhibitions along with animal trading and dog walking. Moreover export of domestic animals from these territories in prohibited.
