A special meeting has taken place in Nizhny Novgorod. It was devoted to major overhaul of subway wagons and their modernization which is planned on 2014-2015. The Head of Transport Department Anatoly Gusev has visited Proletarskoye depot. This information is provided by City Administration media office. General Director of “Nizhegorodskoye metro” Oleg Yakushev said that major overhaul of 4 wagons will be made in 2014. He also noted that an average life-span of every wagon is approximately 31 year. At the same time some wagons are already 29-30 years old. That is why they need an urgent major overhaul with further modernization and prolongation of their life-span. Gusev said that overhaul is a chance to save more money in comparison with purchasing new wagons. New wagons cost about 38-43 million rubles, while overhaul will cost only 20 million rubles. It should also be mentioned that 40% of all wagons are new ones. There have been purchased during the last two years. |
