Of the Russian Federation in the Arctic region produces almost 100 million tonnes of oil annually

Today our country produces in the Arctic nearly 100 million tons of oil a year. In the future the volume of oil production is expected to increase. As reported during the International Arctic forum "the Arctic – territory of dialogue" the head of the Ministry of energy Alexander Novak, Russia annually produces in the Arctic zone, 93 million tons of "black gold". And every year this number is growing. Now the volume of oil extraction in the Arctic accounts for 17% of the total, and 5 years ago it was only 13 %. The Minister said that in the region located and the main reserves of Russian gas. In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous area produces 90 %, and for 2016 gas production reached 519 billion cubic meters. According to Novak, in the whole Arctic region is extracted in the order of 286 billion tons of conditional fuel, i.e. 60% of the total resources of Russia. It is expected that by 2035 the country will be able to get in this area 22 % of the oil. These figures take into account the Energy strategy of Russia until 2035. | |
