Nizhny Novgorod 800th Anniversary will be All-Russian Holiday
Nizhny Novgorod will celebrate its 800th anniversary in 2021. This date may turn out to be all-Russian holiday. All necessary documents and applications are supposed to be forwarded to the Government of Russian Federation by the end of the current year. This question has already been discussed by local authorities on the 9th of February during weekly operational meeting.

The Head of City Administration Oleg Kondrashev noted that 800th Nizhny Novgorod anniversary has been undeservedly brought on the background due to upcoming FIFA 2018 World Cup. At the same time the Head of the City is sure that such date should be celebrated not only in Nizhny Novgorod but all over Russia.

In addition Kondrashev said that the idea to make this date all-Russian holiday has already been approved by the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev. Development of road map was launched during the last operational meeting of local authorities.

Note:

Nizhny Novgorod was founded by Prince Yuri Vsevolodovich in 1221.
