Next stage of the Norwegian drilling technologies

New technology concept has been offered and accepted this week while considering the strategy on Oseberg (Norwegian shelf). The solution itself was submitted at the end of the 2015. It was not quite new. The technology is successfully working on the Danish and Dutch shelves, but has not been implemented in Norway.

A platform will not be looked like ordinary platform. No helicopter pad, no living quarters, no process equipment. The wells will be drilled with a mobile unit and maintained with a support vessel.
The reserves are estimated as 17.6 million standard cubic meters of oil and located between 2400 and 3100 meters below surface.

Operators, these are Statoil, Total, ConocoPhillips, and Petoro are prepared to invest NOK 8.2 billion into the project.

Extracted oil and gas will be processed in the Oseberg field center.
