Monument to Peter I appeared in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
Yesterday an opening ceremony of the monument to Peter I gas taken place in Nizhny Novgorod at 13:10. The monument is located on Nizhnevolzhskaya embankment opposite Zachatskaya Tower. The information about the grand opening was provided by media office of Nizhny Novgorod region government. Valery Shantsev has also taken place in the opening ceremony.

It should be noted that the monument is 3.7 meters high. It is made of bronze. The pedestal is made of concrete and granite. It is 3 meters high. Famous Nizhny Novgorod sculptor Alexey Shitov is the author of this monument.  He has already become rather famous due to his sculptures made of send and ice. He also presented his composition devoted to Minin and Pozharsky which was dedicated to the 400th anniversary of People’s Militia that has been created in 1612.

Topic devoted to the monument to Peter I has been discussed many times during governmental meetings. And finally this project has been approved by the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod region. Additional lights have been installed in the place of monument location. There were several offers regarding the most appropriate place for the statue. However territory opposite Zachatskaya Tower has turned out to be the best bet.
