Microsoft and R3 expand partnership

With the expanded partnership that was announced yesterday both companies plan to offer " effortless deployment" of Corda and its networks on Azure, facilitating the creation of Corda nodes and networks for enterprises, and thereby limiting the time and costs associated with deployment, a press release said.

According to David Rutter, CEO of R3, the deeper integration simplifies the "development and deployment process" and facilitates the commercial deployment of R3’s CorDapp applications.

With the move, Microsoft allows customers to focus on creating "real-world business solutions, applications and pilots," Peggy Johnson, executive vice president of Microsoft, said.

R3, the consortium startup DLT with more than 100 members of the enterprise, first announced its partnership with Microsoft in April last year. The deal provides members of the consortium with access to 45 cloud-based tools on its Azure platform, in addition to Microsoft's blockchain-as-a-service offerings.
