Facebook parent company Meta is lowering its goal of having 500, 000 monthly users on its Virtual Reality platform Horizon Worlds by the end of the year. The social media now targets 280,000 monthly users. Horizon Worlds, on which games can be played in virtual reality, currently has about 200,000 monthly users. At the beginning of this year, there were 300,000. Meta plans to invest a lot of money in the near future to make augmented reality and virtual reality a success. The company is building its own metaverse: a virtual world in which users come together to work, play and talk. A Meta spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal that building the metaverse "is a multi-year plan." The company is constantly making improvements to the platform but it still looks well behind the standards. Adults in the United States and Canada have been able to use the platform since December. |
