Media: Coincheck exchange office raided in the case of embezzlement of cryptocurrency

According to reports in the media, in the office of the Coincheck exchange were searched in the case of embezzlement of the cryptocurrency. In particular, we are talking about the fact of theft of about 534 million dollars. As previously noted, this case is under the control of the experts of the Agency of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance of Japan. 

Experts of the Financial Services Agency decided to check the reporting of the Coincheck exchange and to determine whether it can fulfill its obligations to the affected customers.

According to preliminary data, as a result of the hacker attack, 260 thousand people were affected. As for the amount of damage, while it is about 58 billion yen - approximately 534 million dollars. 

Now trading on the stock exchange is suspended. 

By the way, Coincheck began its activities in August 2014. Its founders are Koichiro Wada and Yusuke Otsuka. The central office of the company is located in Tokyo. The Exchange is part of the Japanese blockbuster association and, together with the government, is developing the standards of the bitcoin community. From the Crypto-currency exchange, the exchange works with such tokens as, Bitcoin, Lisk, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Factum, Monero, NEM, Augur, Zcash, Litecoin, Ripple, and DASH.
