British-American software pioneer John McAfee is now also accused of fraud and money laundering. He is said to have artificially inflated the prices of cryptocurrencies by making handy use of his large following on Twitter - as if Elon Musk does not do the same. According to the American justice system, he and his bodyguard, who allegedly worked on the fraud, earned over $ 13 million. These are new accusations against McAfee, who has been detained in Spain since October. There he was arrested for tax evasion. The 75-year-old McAfee would not have filed any tax returns for the years 2014 to 2018. He is also said to have withheld property, including real estate, a yacht and a car. According to the prosecutors of that tax case, McAfee had made millions of dollars promoting cryptocurrencies, holding lectures, consulting assignments, and selling the rights to his life story for a documentary. He wouldn't have paid any taxes on that. McAfee founded antivirus company McAfee in 1987 and left the company in 1994. In 2010, it was sold to Intel. The entrepreneur made the news in 2012 because he was wanted in Belize for questioning in a murder case. He fled to Guatemala, eventually being extradited to the United States. McAfee also made headlines several times due to his failed attempts to run for President.
