The Libyan Navy detained the 5,227 metric ton capacity tanker 11 miles off the coast of the Abu Kamash district. There were five Russians and several Ukrainian and Greek citizens on the vessel. Russian diplomatic mission, temporarily based in Tunis, is trying to verify the circumstances of the incident, the Russian Foreign Ministry claims. Two major oil tankers, one of which has never arrived, left the Libyan port Al-Hariga on Wednesday with the total load of almost 1.5 million barrels of oil. The Al-Hariga port was reopened last month following the talks in Vienna and the decision of National Oil Corporations to resume shipments. This will allow Libya to increase the oil output to 300,000 barrels per day. |
