In the Kaliningrad region, a pilot project to handle appeals for social payments using blockchain technology is launched, writes the online edition of BitsMedia.

 According to the governor of the region Anton Alikhanov, the authorities of the region intend to use the huge potential of the detachment in various spheres and decided to start with such an important topic as social payments. According to the governor, the technology of the distributed registry will reduce the processing time of citizens' appeals and protect operations from scammers. Testing of the system is planned until the end of June, and in the autumn - to expand the program and distribute the block to management of other types of public services.

Vnesheconombank (VEB) is providing assistance to the Kaliningrad Oblast authorities in the implementation of the pilot project on detachment. The specialists of the Kaliningrad region will conduct a cycle of training regional government employees on the basics of working with distributed registry technology. According to VEB, about fifty regional officials have already visited the first lessons on blockchain.
