Iran welcomes bitcoin if it will be regulated

According to the Iranian newspaper Financial Tribune, the secretary of the government of cyberspace of the country, Abolhassan Firouzabadi, said that they welcomed bitcoin, but they must had regulations for bitcoin and any other digital currency... following the rules was a must.

Despite the absence of any specific rules for cryptocurrencies in Iran so far, bitcoin is used in the country for payments, trading, mining and various other enterprises, he added.

While the central bank still has to come up with a certain position on bitcoin, it will soon be clarified, he said.

Firouzabadi also indicated that the HCC and the central bank of Iran have already cooperated in the study of digital currencies, in connection with the recent price increase, and that that process will continue.

Just two weeks ago, the deputy chief for new technologies of the Central Bank of Iran, Naser Hakimi, warned the public about the "uncertainty" associated with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, warning investors about bitcoin that they are risking their capital.
