The hash rate, or computing power, of the bitcoin (BTC) network has again reached an all-time high (ATH). This is evident from new data from BitInfoCharts. BitInfoCharts shows a hash rate for bitcoin of 111.85 (EH / s) on December 23. The previous record was 110 EH / s according to BitInfoCharts, which was reached on 23 October. According to data from blockchain.com, the hash rate has just not reached its ATH. The hash rate of a blockchain is the speed at which data or blocks are decoded by miners to hashes. The hash rate is expressed in hashes per second or usually in exahashes per second, which is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 (a trillion) hashes per second. A higher hash rate means a healthier and more secure network. The new record is worth mentioning because it is expected in the market that miners in the run-up to the upcoming halving, which will take place approximately in May 2020, would capitulate en masse. However, a new ATH of the hash rate indicates that this is not or hardly the case. |
