At a conference in Berlin, Gazprom's deputy chairman Alexander Medvedev said that funds from all had come to the accounts of Nord Stream-2 and were already working on the project. Medvedev also said that Gazprom has already received from foreign partners more than €1 billion in equal proportions from each. In May, Gazprom agreed with Western partners, such as Uniper, Shell, Engie, OMV and Wintershall on the financing of the Nord Stream-2 project, which will run under the Baltic sea. Gazprom will take over the funding of half the cost of € 9.5 billion for the construction of the Nord Stream-2. On Wednesday, the US Senate approved new sanctions against Russia, which, among other things, toughen financing of Russian energy companies and their projects. Alexander Medvedev believes that sanctions against Russian pipelines, including North Stream-2, are aimed at supporting the export of liquefied natural gas to Europe from the United States. The construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline with a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year will begin in 2018 and will end at the end of 2019. Germany and Austria have criticized the project of new sanctions, seeing in it the risks for their energy companies. |
