Gazprom is ready for the coming winter season

Russia’s gas producing company Gazprom announced that it is ready for the coming winter season. According to the company’s CEO Alexei Miller, Gazprom has stored the target 72.1 billion cubic meters of gas in the underground gas storage facilities. Talking to president Vladimir Putin, Gazprom CEO mentioned that the daily withdrawal rate of the storage system had been increased to a new record of 801 million cubic meters per day.

"The gas supply system for the autumn-winter period is ready," Miller said, according to a transcript of his conversation with Putin posted to Gazprom's website.

Miller also informed the president that the TurkStream pipeline, both pipes of which have total capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters annually, would be completed by the end of 2017.

The Turkish Stream project was last discussed by the two countries on October 10 in Istanbul. Russian energy minister Alexander Novak and his Turkish counterpart Berat Albayrak signed an agreement between two governments that gives way to construction of a line to Turley that would carry 31.5 billion cubic meters per year.
