Russian gas supplier Gazprom has increased the volumes of gas transmitted to Europe via Ukrainian pipelines of Ukrtransgaz (a subsidiary enterprise of Naftogaz). On August, 9 there were 276 mcm of gas transmitted – that is 20% more than the usual 230 mcm, say Russian news agencies citing Gazprom and Ukrtransgaz information departments. Mass media explain that both Russian and Ukrainian parties agreed on the conditions of the supply increase. Ukrtransgaz allowed bigger gas transmit in case Gazprom provides appropriate pressure in the pipelines. In its request for larger gas volumes Gazprom explained that bigger capacity is needed because of a regular maintenance on the Nord Stream pipeline. Earlier Nord Stream AG announced a regular annual maintenance on the both threads of the Nord Stream pipeline which are to be held from August, 9 to August, 17. Gas supply will be halted for this period. By August, 19 the upstream-partner is to finish their works on the Russian thread, and full capacity will be available. |
