France may ban the import of shale gas in the US
On Tuesday, may 10, in the National Assembly, said the Minister of ecology, sustainable development and energy of France Segolene Royal. She noted that since France at the legislative level on its territory has banned the production of hydrocarbons using the method of hydraulic fracturing, the authorities should also ban the import of shale gas.

In his speech the Royal criticized the company Electricite de France and Engie because they signed a contract to import liquefied natural gas from the United States. Under the contracts, it is assumed that the share of shale gas in these deliveries may reach 40% of the total.

We are talking about contracts that were concluded last year. In September 2015 the American Cheniere Energy and EDF signed an agreement on the supply of LNG to France in 2017-2018 In October 2015, the media reported on the conclusion of similar agreements for LNG supplies from U.S. to France between Cheniere Energy and Engie.
