France creates working group on the regulation of сryptocurrency

In a statement on Monday, Le Maire stated that the working group will be responsible for proposing guidelines and developing a framework on cryptocurrency regulations to prevent the abuse of technology, the French newspaper Les Echos reports.

Le Mair pointed out that this working group will be headed by Jean-Pierre Landau, the former deputy governor of the central bank of the country, the Bank of France.

The step to creation of a working group on cryptocurrency comes a month after Le Maire suggested holding a discussion on regulation of bitcoin at a G-20 summit in 2018. He said he would ask Argentina to put bitcoin on the agenda at the upcoming meeting in April.

Recently, a director of the central bank of Germany expressed the same mood, saying that cryptocurrencies must be regulated on a global scale, and not only at the national level.
