Fixed platforms to be build off the Israel coast

Leviathan gas field is one of largest in the Mediterranean sea. The meaning of that discovery in 2010 for the Israeli’s economy is hardly possible to overestimate.

Now, seems like practical implementation of the project is beginning. First gas cold be expected on the market in 2019, though no plans has been open.

There are some questions left about the size of that gas field. The Israeli’s Ministry of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources declared that gas reserves are 20% lower than previously has been estimated. Now it is estimated as 500 billion cubic meters. A little bit earlier it was 620 billion cubic meters and that is not the last figure. Some additional data is still to be received. On the other hand, Israeli’s partner, developing the field, Delek Group, did not confirm that information.

Whatever the size of the Leviathan gas field is energy minister Yuval Steinitz said that it is essential not only for country’s energy security but that the vision of Israeli as a supplier of natural gas is on the way.
