Programmers Billy Laws and Max Keller have succeeded in installing a working version of the Android Q operating system on a Nintendo Switch game console. In a video on his Twitter account, Keller shows how he controls Android on the touch screen of his Switch. He can also operate the system with the buttons of the controllers. The possibilities of the operating system are limited at Switch for the time being. Because Android on the Switch does not have the right driver software to use the graphics card of the game console, it is not possible to play games with it. Also the sound and the USB connection are not working yet. The color scheme of Android is also distorted because of the missing connection with the graphics card, writes Keller. Internet and bluetooth are already functioning on the system. In 2017 a rumor circulated that Nintendo once planned to provide the Switch with a version of Android. The work of Keller and Laws is just a hobby project and requires adjustments to the game computer. |
