Defendant from Nizhny Novgorod Committed a Suicide before Sentence was Announced

A body of 52-year old citizen of Nizhny Novgorod was found by local policemen. He was waiting for sentencing. A man was accused of selling weapon illegally. The defendant decided not to wait sentencing and shot himself. His body was found on the balcony of his apartment on the 3rd of March. Investigators found suicide note where 52-yeard old man said that there was no one to blame in his death. According to information provided by Investigation Committee of Nizhny Novgorod region the case concerning his relations to illegal traffic of weapon has just been closed. Court was taking decision on sentence and terms of imprisonment for the defendant. Medical forensic has been initiated in order to exclude any other reasons of his deaths except for suicide. The latest statistic shows that the number of suicides in Nizhny Novgorod region is growing rapidly. Moreover Volga region takes the first place among all other Russian regions when it comes to suicides.
