David Marcus joined Coinbase

In a special blog post on Tuesday, CEO Brian Armstrong said that Marcus’ knowledge of both the payments and mobile space would help to lead the largest U.S. Bitcoin exchange and wallet provider going forward.

Growth in Coinbase this year is marked by the fact that the company is going through a second hyper adoption phase, which sees that its infrastructure and personnel stretched to the maximum.

The apparent interest in Bitcoin from major consumers continues to verify which better known Bitcoin names can withstand demand, and Coinbase has introduced a huge number of support personnel this month.

Commenting on his appointment, Marcus said that he had been "fascinated" by cryptocurrency for five years.

Last week, Coinbase unveiled its new chief operating officer in the form of Asiff Hirji, formerly part of the wallet’s venture capital partner Andreessen Horowitz, as well as pro-Bitcoin Saxo Bank and Bain Capital.
