Construction of new metro line in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia

New metro station will appear in Nizhny Novgorod tube. It will be called “Strelka”. That is why construction of new metro line has been started. Oleg Kondrashev has officially announced about the start of construction work on the 2nd of October. Removal of sewage collector was the primary goal on the first stage of this project.

Existing sewage collector has been sued for 40 years already and it needs urgent replacement. At the same time special tunneling shield is used by constructors. Kondrashev said that this shield will also be used on other stages. It makes it possible to handle with construction works in the most difficult places where traditional methods are of no use. Workers lay large pumps which is one of the most important processes in tunnel construction. New collector will be built in 60 days in accordance with the plan.
