Construction of Gagarin Avenue Backup can be postponed

Construction of Gagarin avenue backup, that was supposed to start in 2016, may be postponed. It is very unlikely that building will be started within two years. Such statement has been made by the Head of Nizhny Novgorod Oleg Sorokin.

Sorokin also said that project works will be completed by the end of this year. However there is a lack of investments and funds. It is really hard to cope with such huge project with the help of local budget. That is why city authorities need additional governmental support. On the other hand available federal funds are aimed on primary projects which include construction of the Southern Bypass, Borsky Bridge and others. These projects are aimed to make the traffic less intensive.

At the same time Oleg Sorokin noted that it is necessary to complete all project works on Gagarin avenue backup as soon as possible. When government of Nizhny Novgorod gets a chance to participate in federal investment programs, it will do it immediately.

We have already written that this project includes construction of the overpass and road junction on Larin street. However a lot of preparation works need to be finished before construction is launched. They include providing of additional spaces for special objects. However there are not enough funds in the budget. Project works of the second line of backup are almost completed. The building process will not start unless there are necessary funds.
