Coinbase has overtaken Charles Schwab by the number of users

According to its website, Coinbase has 13 million users, and the number of Schwab brokerage accounts was 10.6 million at the end of 2016.

These figures do not reflect the full picture, since the number of assets controlled by Schwab is certainly much larger than the number of Coinbase users' assets. Nevertheless, the actual number of users indicates the massive amount of adoption, as the public begins to dare in cryptocurrencies. The number of Coinbase users increased by 167% this year.

Coinbase openly publishes the number of active accounts on its website, and traders have closely followed these figures in the entire of the digital currency boom this year. Such a large number of people creating accounts on the exchange of cryptocurrency should put an end to the idea that bitcoin is just an economic event.

Regardless of bullish or bearish expectations, the reality is that Bitcoin is gaining strength among the general public. This is further confirmed by the offering of futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), the spread of hedge funds and the announcement of Bitcoin in countries that do not have money.
