Chinese company Baidu launches stock photography service based on blockсhain technology

Chinese Internet company Baidu, often called "Chinese Google," announced the launch of a new stock photography service, which will function by blockсhain technology. The new facility was named Totem and was created to protect intellectual property rights for images, this is reported by the news portal bits.media.

The project was launched on Wednesday; it uses blockсhain technology, it implements temporary markings on each photo of the user with his real name. The data associated with the title will be automatically saved in the distributed registry.

The new blockсhain-platform will also be able to correlate the distribution of photos on the network with verified information that is stored in the locker, which will facilitate the filing of claims for the protection of their data and intellectual property, if necessary. Several national portals with stock photos have already joined the new service; they are Visual China Group and Getty Images.

Recall that this is not the first precedent, when a large company uses a blockсhain to protect intellectual property, in February, a similar initiative was made by the Kodak Corporation.
